New Mammo Coach Expands Access to Screening Mammography

As you drive along Cedar Crest Boulevard near Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Cedar Crest, a pink motor coach parked near Fish Hatchery Road will likely catch your eye. This is Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN)’s second mammography coach, a sophisticated medical vehicle that will have a regular presence on the LVH–Cedar Crest campus. Appointments will be available starting April 24.

Much of the time, the new mammo coach will be in residence at LVH–Cedar Crest to help provide women with more rapid access to screening mammography. Like our brick-and-mortar Breast Health Services locations and our original mammography coach, the brand-new mammo coach also will offer 3D mammography services provided by our certified and registered mammography technologists, and image review by LVHN’s excellent radiology team.

Like all mammography locations, the new mammo coach requests patients to schedule an appointment in advance. You do not need a prescription (also called a script or order) from your doctor to schedule a screening mammogram. The only requirements are that you are age 40 or older and that the date you want to have your next mammogram is more than 365 days since your last screening mammogram. To schedule you can:

When you’re scheduling, you will have your choice of many locations including the mobile mammography coach at Cedar Crest. If you would like to have your mammogram at this new location, select it from the options that are presented by phone or in MyLVHN.

The new mobile mammography coach is located on the campus of LVH–Cedar Crest, in the vicinity of the helipad. TIP: In Google, you can receive precise directions by putting this location name in the search bar: “Mobile Mammography Coach at Cedar Crest.”

Here are short directions to help orient you to its location:

• If you are traveling south on S. Cedar Crest Boulevard, turn right onto Fish Hatchery Road.
• If you are traveling north on S. Cedar Crest Boulevard (coming from the direction of Emmaus), turn left onto Fish Hatchery Road.
• Once you turn onto Fish Hatchery Road, the driveway entrance to the hospital campus is on your right.
• Follow signs to the mobile mammography coach from here.

If you happen to turn in at the main entrance of LVH–Cedar Crest, watch for pink flag signs that will direct you to the mammography coach.

Once you arrive, you’ll find that the mammo coach’s home base offers convenient parking as well as restroom facilities.
