About
Philosophy of care
When a child comes into the emergency room, my priority is to make sure they are safe and as comfortable as possible. I love meeting kids and listening to their stories. Working with children and their families, I listen to each concern and together we develop a reasonable plan to move forward. My job isn't complete until I've answered every question.
Why I entered medicine
I think biology and biochemistry are fascinating. Becoming a doctor gave me the opportunity to use science to help people. So, particularly in the emergency room, I help children and their families every day, which is something I enjoy.
Community involvement
I’ve always been a blood donor. There was a time that someone close to me needed a blood transfusion, so I really value the work done by blood banks. My husband and I coach youth soccer, an activity that keeps us active and laughing.
Personal interests
I bike and hike with my family. I love to travel and hike in new places. I grew up in State College and went to Penn State, so I’m a big fan of Penn State sports.
I enjoy gardening. Lately, I’ve been spending more time at home and my vegetable garden thrived. My favorite thing about gardening is growing things the neighborhood kids like to eat. I love to see my kids and their friends in the garden eating peas, baby tomatoes or carrots right off the plants. In this small way I’m promoting healthy eating among the neighborhood kids.
