- Mortality Data
Based upon several factors including how sick their patients are, a hospital's expected mortality rate is calculated by an external agency. That rate is then compared to the actual number of patients who die in the hospital. If the ratio is more than 1.0, it means more people died than expected. If the ratio is less than 1.0 it means fewer people died than expected. Lower ratios are better.
