- Cervical Cancer
Cervical cancer is cancer of your cervix, the lower, narrow part of the uterus, located between the bladder and the rectum. It forms a canal that opens into the vagina, which leads to the outside of your body. If you have cervical cancer, you want the care that will give you the best chance for recovery and possibly preserved fertility. You’ll find that care, provided by fellowship-trained gynecologic oncologists at the Lehigh Valley Cancer Institute. They can provide you with the most advanced care, including access to treatments that aren’t available elsewhere
We use a multidisciplinary team approach to cervical cancer. That means whether you’re being diagnosed for the first time or looking for a second opinion, you will meet with our Gynecologic Cancer Multidisciplinary Consultation Program (Gynecologic MDC) team, which includes a gynecologic oncologist, medical oncologist, radiation oncologist and patient navigator. You will see the entire team of specialists in the same day. Team members will review every aspect of your case and offer the best treatment recommendation – this approach is most effective in aggressively and successfully treating cancer. You also will be connected to a caring support team that includes financial counselors, social workers and others who will be available to you throughout your cancer journey.
The Lehigh Valley Cancer Institute is a member of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Alliance, which gives you access to groundbreaking, lifesaving cancer care and breakthrough clinical research right here in the Lehigh Valley. LVHN patients have access to MSK clinical trials. This accelerates the data-collection process so investigational treatments can be approved faster and become available to more patients.
