About
Philosophy of care
I bring a multi-disciplinary, patient-centered approach to the practice of psychiatry. I keep up with advancements in this exciting and rapidly changing field to provide you the best evidence-based care. I value patient education, so do my best to keep you involved in decision-making regarding your treatment plan.
Why I entered medicine
My caring nature and thirst for medical knowledge made the health care profession a perfect fit for me. Even as a child I pictured myself as a doctor. I was in awe of doctors: their knowledge, skill and ability to not only save lives, but also support and teach the patient and family. Sadly, from a young age, I also became aware of the limits of medicine when doctors and resources are few. The deaths of two of my family members underscored the critical importance of having plenty of skilled doctors who put patients first. That motivated me to study hard and devote myself to the medical field.
Community involvement
I have volunteered as a physician at Amr ibn al-Aas Mosque charity clinics, treating the needy. I also have spearheaded fundraising to support the victims of violence in the Middle East.
Personal interests
In my spare time I enjoy playing and watching soccer, swimming and snorkeling, and camping and hiking. I organize summer camping and hiking trips as extracurricular activities for medical students. I also enjoy reading, especially historical articles.
