About

Philosophy of care

As I build upon my own philosophy of practice, I find I highly value three components of advanced nursing: safety, empathy and autonomy. The top priority of any provider is ensuring the safety of you, me and others. This includes assessing your ability to maintain personal safety, evaluating the best evidenced-based information to ensure safe treatment, creating a safe therapeutic environment and recognizing available resources. Empathy is essential when working in a caring profession. It is important for me to acknowledge your emotional state as well as your families’ and reflect on individual needs and circumstances. I remain open-minded and non-judgmental as patients come for help during especially vulnerable times. Lastly, I greatly value your autonomy as a guiding force in your treatment and recovery. Mental health treatment is highly individualized because social and psychological variables are often central to your plan of care. It is also pertinent that you believe in your path to wellness and form a collaboration with your treatment team, and the only way to do that is if you have the autonomy to identify your goals and are given the resources and education to make well-informed decisions.

Why I entered medicine

I have always been interested in behavioral health and want to help others through the sometimes-challenging journey to their own mental wellness.

Community involvement

I worked with the Sixth Street Shelter in Allentown, assisting with their food pantry. I also volunteered with Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital in the occupational therapy department.

Personal interests

In my free time I enjoy reading, writing and spending time with my family and pets.
