About
Philosophy of care
I strive to offer you thoughtful and professional urgent, emergent and critical care services. I value collaboration with all my patients, their families and caregivers (as well as any necessary specialty services) to promote health and improve overall outcomes. My goal is a trusting relationship with patients/families that promotes excellence and compassion through a commitment to professional growth seated in ethics, quality and safety.
Why I entered medicine
Growing up in Appalachia, I experienced the adverse impacts geography has on the delivery of high-quality health care. Beginning my career as a volunteer EMT helped me develop the foundational values that continue to drive my philosophy of care. The ability to help those in need during their most challenging health care moment is such a rewarding experience. To this day I feel the same passion and energy I did as a brand new EMT.
Community involvement
I continue to be a volunteer firefighter and have secured millions in grant funding to improve rural first responder capabilities as well as the infrastructure necessary for our community to grow.
Personal interests
Although I enjoy fall archery season, winter sports and learning about old fire engines, I am most passionate about hiking and exploring our many amazing natural resources and national parks.
