About
Philosophy of care
My philosophy of care focuses on the patient holistically, rather than just treating their disease. Patients have complicated lives outside their time in the hospital, and each has unique goals, dreams and values that should be incorporated into their care. I also believe in involving the family in a patient's care, because many patients depend on family members for emotional and physical support, and caregivers play a unique role in the patient's treatment.
Why I entered medicine
After spending extensive time as a child in the hospital with a sick sibling and seeing the difference the health care clinicians played – not just in my sibling's life, but also in my own and that of my parents – I knew this was a role I wanted to play for someone in the future. I wanted to be the medical professional who could ease someone's mind and provide support after a life-changing diagnosis, just as someone did for me years ago.
Community involvement
I donate blood regularly and have volunteered at an assisted-living community.
Personal interests
In my free time I enjoy swimming, reading, cooking and baking.
