About

Philosophy of care

As a hospitalist, I will be seeing many of my patients and their family members during critical moments in their lives. It is with this understanding I strive to meet each interaction with those in my professional care with patience and empathy. A mentor of mine often quoted the great Dr. William Osler: “Listen to your patient; he is telling you the diagnosis.” I’ve taken this advice to heart. It is only through open and effective communication that I can use my skills in the accurate diagnosis and treatment of each patient.

Why I entered medicine

My life was profoundly shaped by the lifesaving medical care provided to my mother when I was very young. Afterward I found myself inclined toward health and medicine, and the possibility of paying this type of service forward to others. I had several health care jobs throughout my early career, including as a patient care technician and as a nurse. Those roles were rewarding, but I always wanted to learn more. Eventually I pursued medical school and residency, allowing me to now apply my highest level of knowledge and training toward my passion for helping people. The significance of this vocation is reinforced by my faith and continued personal experience every day I come to work.

Community involvement

I have spent my adult life working and volunteering in health care settings in the Lehigh Vally and greater Philadelphia area. During medical school at Temple, I engaged in community outreach in North Philadelphia. Before that, I worked as a nurse and a hospital technician in multiple service areas and charity clinics, including medical mission trips abroad.

Personal interests

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, in nature and on the water, fishing/hunting, trap shooting and telling my wife how cute our cat is.
