About
Philosophy of care
I want the children in my care to be successful in creating a healthy life by providing them and their families with the building blocks for that lifestyle. As a pediatrician, I guide toward setting good sleeping and eating habits, skills for staying active and getting your child ready to learn. It’s better to take these preventative actions than to react when they become adults. I help my patients prevent disease. I have three kids, including twins, and find being a parent makes me more relatable. I understand the unique challenges of parenting multiples and can draw from my own experiences. While each situation is unique, I wouldn’t recommend anything to you for your child that I wouldn’t for my own children.
Why I entered medicine
As a student, I really enjoyed chemistry and microbiology. I like to take the things that I’ve learned and use those to help others. Medicine was one way I could take something that I was passionate about and have a positive effect on the world.
Community involvement
My family and I are volunteers at our church. I’m part of the music team and I’ve done children’s theater with the children’s ministry.
Personal interests
As a family, we do outdoor activities mainly on the water. My husband is a sailor, so we go boating, canoeing and kayaking. Lately, we’ve been biking, too. Personally, I enjoy photography and baking. Cookies are my favorite, but I also bake cakes, cupcakes, breads and muffins. Photography is a fun hobby. I take pictures of my family and, if they ask, my friends.
