About

Philosophy of care

I see the patient as a whole - not an illness. There are many factors that effect a person's health and well-being. You have to care for all of them to keep the person healthy.

Why I entered medicine

Even as a child, I was always fascinated with medical information. My grandmother had a very old book (from the 1940s) about treating diseases, and I would spend hours reading it and studying the pictures. As I got older, I volunteered at a large hospital where my mother worked and was exposed to a variety of specialties. I went on to work as a nursing assistant there in the summers and eventually as a graduate nurse and RN. Obstetrics became my passion! I gravitated toward high-risk obstetrics because of the wide range of clinical experiences. Helping families cope emotionally in such stressful times, and providing them with the highest quality clinical care gives me total job satisfaction.

Community involvement

I'm active in a community food pantry.

Personal interests

I enjoy family time and participate in lots of kids activities ranging from little league baseball games to college basketball. I also also enjoy shopping and flea markets, and love dogs, especially my rescued St. Bernard, Meli.
