About
Philosophy of care
My philosophy of care is to treat every patient as if they were my own child. I strive to provide high quality, evidence-based care to all of my patients. I listen to both the child (when old enough to relay their concerns) and the parents (who know the child best) and make sure I answer all of their questions and address any concerns they have. I try to engage the child whenever I can and make them an active participant in their health. I work as part of a team including the child, parents, other caregivers, medical sub-specialists, teachers/schools, and others to provide the best care possible. I ensure the parents and child are well-informed about their treatment plan and appropriate follow up is provided. As a pediatrician, a significant portion of the care I provide is preventive care and counseling ensuring children stay safe and healthy.
Why I entered medicine
From the time I was very young, I have wanted to be a doctor. At five years old I began saying "when I grow up, I’m going to be a baby doctor." I quickly learned that a "baby doctor" was called a pediatrician. As I grew, so did my fascination for the human body and medicine. I volunteered at Lehigh Valley Hospital through high school which reaffirmed my aspirations. I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey to becoming a pediatrician and am very happy with my career choice.
Community involvement
I support many charities that serve children including THON, Penn State University’s student run philanthropy for children with cancer.
Personal interests
As a relatively new mom, I can now say that the thing I enjoy most is spending time with our daughter! Being a mom has influenced the way I see things and has definitely made me a better doctor. I also love spending time with my husband and our labradoodle.
