About
Philosophy of care
I feel my obligation as a physician is to listen to my patients, offer quality medical care, educate the family about diseases and preventive health strategies, and include the family in decisions regarding treatment. I spend a significant amount of time on education. I want my patients and their families to leave my office well-informed, so that they can continue the care that is needed at home and understand what they are treating. When I see patients, I always try to engage the child first. I'll spend a few minutes playing with him or her or talking about non-medical subjects to put him or her at ease before I get to the more serious issues that brought them into the office that day. Children need to feel comfortable with me. When they realize it can be fun, it's a lot easier to approach them with my stethoscope and to examine them.
Why I entered medicine
I enjoy spending time with children and families. There can be challenging times when a child is ill, and a family feels a lot of stress in caring for the child. The rewards come when that child and family come back, and the child laughs and plays because he enjoys coming to visit his doctor. It is also an amazing privilege to see your patients grow and mature over time. I believe what is most important in our lives is to spend time helping others. I'm so fortunate that my job allows me to help others and gives me a great sense of accomplishment.
Personal interests
I enjoy being a mom. I juggle the routine of all the after-school activities, homework and free play. I also enjoy running, gardening and being creative.
