About

Philosophy of care

I believe in incorporating neuromodulation, interventional procedures, osteopathic manipulation, nutrition, fitness, yoga and meditation as part of an integrative approach to health and healing in the treatment of chronic pain. I work with my patients on restoring their quality of life and function. As a board-certified anesthesiologist, I am skilled in keeping patients comfortable and safe in surgery and in the perioperative period. I have experience performing ultrasound-guided regional nerve block techniques and neuraxial block procedures in both inpatient and ambulatory settings.

Why I entered medicine

I grew up being cared for by and taking care of my grandmother, who was a chronic pain patient. Throughout the progression of her disease, she used various treatment modalities that ranged from exercises, dietary changes, topical treatments, medications, injections and eventually a minimally invasive spine procedure. I witnessed the successes as well as the limitations of different approaches to the treatment of pain, and I desire to apply the same principles in my interventional and integrative pain practice.

Community involvement

I value education, charitable causes and community outreach. I am an active member of several medical and pain societies, both locally and nationally. Although I grew up in New York, my family has been deeply rooted in Allentown more than 60 years and I am proud to serve this community.

Personal interests

I enjoy cooking new (and old) recipes, hiking the trails at Trexler Nature Preserve, taking road trips to national parks, traveling abroad to learn more about different cultures, watching science and nature documentaries, listening to mindfulness and economics podcasts and spending time with my family, my friends and my gray cat. As a former yoga teacher, I recognize the importance of the mind-body-spirit connection and I practice yoga regularly. I am a classically trained trombonist and have performed with a variety of concert bands and ensembles.
