About
Philosophy of care
As nurse practitioner I am a patient advocate, educator and promoter of disease awareness. By discovering what you find important and your challenges, we can develop a plan of care together that focuses on those details, helping ensure you follow the plan and benefit from it. I can educate you about your diagnosis, encourage and promote healthy behaviors to prevent disease progression, and help you spot warning signs so you seek care for conditions requiring immediate attention.
Why I entered medicine
I have always been fond of medicine, human anatomy and caring for others. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I was a registered nurse, and have always been extremely proud of being a nurse. I primarily worked in cardiothoracic surgical recovery and cardiac intensive care, caring for patients likely going through one of the most difficult times of their lives. I enjoyed caring for them during critical illness. I had the knowledge to educate them about their diagnosis and how to manage it and stay healthy, and the ability to empathize with them and provide the emotional support they need and deserve. There is such a sense of academic, social, and emotional fulfillment that I have gotten through the medical field that I have not found anywhere else. I could not imagine a different career.
Personal interests
I love to cook and bake. I really love good food and sharing that enjoyment with family and friends. I enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter and extended family and friends and spending time outdoors with my two Siberian Huskies (who keep me very active!). I am most happy when it’s warm; I really enjoy my pool, the beach and everything that goes with the summer months.
