About
Philosophy of care
My philosophy centers around providing comprehensive, compassionate and evidence-based health care throughout all stages of life. I believe in building strong, trusting relationships with my patients, actively listening to their concerns and involving them in shared decision-making. I promote holistic well-being, advocating for reproductive health rights, and continuously advance my knowledge and skills to deliver high-quality care that meets your unique needs.
Why I entered medicine
As a child I always wanted to deliver babies, but first I wanted to see the world, so I went into the military. My first daughter was born while I was stationed in Italy, and I rediscovered my love for obstetrics and particularly for nursing care. I finished my enlistment and went to nursing school. I have since been present at the start and end of many lives and found each to be an honor. Over a 15-year career I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings – in OB-GYN all the way through critical care – each helping guide my experience and interests. Eventually I settled into OB-GYN and decided to further advance my education there because of my profound interest in the health care of women, the pillars of family health. If women are healthy, supported and informed, it impacts everyone in her family.
Community involvement
I enjoy supporting local arts and educational programs.
Personal interests
I love my family (including my dog and cat), nature and gardening the most. I like to bike, walk, hike, fish or sit at youth sporting events. I find gardening to be therapeutic and rewarding. I like to travel too. Day trips to check out hidden gems or longer trips are great, especially those with some historic aspect! A personal interest I have in health care is equality. I have and always will strive to ensure everyone is given the same opportunity to improve and/or maintain their mental and physical health, regardless of what they/others may see as a barrier.
