About
Philosophy of care
I strongly believe every patient should be cared for as if they were my mother, father, brother or sister. I believe that if we all stay true to this principle, we truly provide clinical excellence. My focus is cardiothoracic critical care: I help patients who arrive at the hospital in end stage shock to their heart or lungs by working to stabilize and reverse that process.
Why I entered medicine
I became a physician to ease the suffering of others and serve my nation as a medic/physician in the armed forces. My parents immigrated to the United States in the mid-1970s, and my father provided medical care to many Southeast Missourians, often for free. While this did not provide us with many luxuries, my mother and father taught us that the most important values are to care for one's neighbors, give back to our adopted nation and make the environment around us better.
Community involvement
I was an active-duty naval officer for five years, spending most of that time attached to a U.S. Marine Corps Unit based out of the 2D Marine Aircraft Wing, 2D Marine Expeditionary Force. My family started a free medical clinic in Missouri. We donate to our volunteer fire department and police.
Personal interests
I devote free time to personal fitness, helping others, traveling, reading and being with my family.
