Student Activities
The Joseph F. McCloskey School of Nursing at Lehigh Valley Health Network’s Academic Counseling is designed to assist students in adjusting to school life and responsibilities. Each student is assigned to a nursing faculty adviser. Following the initial meeting, students may schedule appointments as needed. Nursing faculty primarily assists students with academic/curriculum-related problems as well as the development of skills essential for academic success.
The Student Assistance Program is a professional counseling service provided through the School of Nursing to assist students and their families in coping with problems that could result in serious deterioration of health, family life or academic performance. Students may be referred by faculty and/or required to attend by the Director of the School.
Additional information about the Student Assistance Program can be found in the Student Handbook.
The Student Nurses' Association of Pennsylvania (SNAP) is a nonprofit organization representing nursing students throughout Pennsylvania and is a part of the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA). Membership is open to all students. SNAP works hand-in-hand with our school Student Association for various volunteer activities.
The purpose of SNAP is to foster student interest in professional professional matters, as well as to advocate for quality health care for all people. Members have the opportunity to attend state and national conventions, present posters, write resolutions, participate in National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) challenge competitions, and attend NCLEX reviews and workshops on many relevant nursing issues. Members are able to network with nursing students and professionals from around the country. The following brochure explains how to join NSNA/SNAP and the many benefits of being a member: Membership Brochure.pdf (dropbox.com)
