LVHN is now proudly part of Jefferson Health
La Lehigh Valley Health Network se enorgullece en ser ahora parte de Jefferson Health.
Career goal: Pediatric oncologist
“The pediatric program at LVHN, first and foremost, is looking to give the best patient care while structuring the program to give you the best education.”
Every program in the country emphasizes wellness, but there are only a few that truly support their wellness initiatives. LVHN commits to wellness by offering wellness events and considering wellness in the policies for residents, including scheduling, supportive environments and work-life balance.
The most unique part of my training experience thus far is the balance between autonomy and support I experience while caring for patients. Our teachers want us to take charge and lead patient care while knowing that we still have all the support we need.
During residency orientation, I participated in a simulation training that I will never forget. The new trainees were very nervous about starting residency, but the simulation training allowed us to be comfortable learning to treat patients in a low-stress and safe environment.
One piece of advice I would share with someone who is selecting a training program is to really look at fit. Not every program is meant for you. Determine the values that are most important to you and try finding a program that fits those values. You ultimately will be the happiest at a program that fits your values.
Being a resident at LVHN means that two things are the most valued: patient care and education. The pediatric program at LVHN, first and foremost, is looking to give the best patient care while structuring the program to give you the best education. You will always be treated with respect as a trainee who is here to learn.
