- Emergency Care or Scheduled Surgery Payment
If your health care needs involve special circumstances like emergency care or scheduled surgery, Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) helps you understand the billing process so you can focus on recovery.
When you receive emergency care or have a scheduled surgery at LVHN, your copayment, deductible and coinsurance payment responsibilities are determined according to your insurance plan. Following care, you may receive medical bills from physicians or other health care providers for services.
Emergency care
LVHN always provides the emergency care you need, even if you have trouble paying medical bills. When you visit an LVHN emergency room (ER), your insurance copayment is collected before you return home. By paying at the time of service, you avoid receiving bills in the mail or phone calls requesting payment, allowing you to focus on your recovery. Some people qualify for financial assistance or payment plans for their ER medical bills. LVHN financial counselors review your personal financial information to determine your eligibility and help you apply for our financial assistance program if you qualify.
Scheduled surgery
Taking care of finances before your scheduled surgery helps you focus on your recovery without additional stress. LVHN financial counselors contact you before any scheduled surgical procedure to provide estimates of your financial responsibility ahead of time. We also collect your insurance copayment prior to your procedure, helping you avoid bills in the mail during your recovery period. If you are uninsured or underinsured, our counselors help determine your eligibility for state medical assistance or aid through LVHN’s financial assistance program.
