The Children’s Hospital is a unique regional treasure. Thanks to the remarkable initial generosity of Lehigh Valley residents J.B. and Kathleen Reilly, it is the region’s only children’s hospital and Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The hospital provides care in more than 30 specialties and general pediatrics, all under one kid-friendly roof, and with additional funding resources from our loyal donors, we can continue to grow to include additional specialties that are vital to the health and wellbeing of children.

Children’s health and well-being
This new program, which is aimed at improving and promoting children’s health and well-being, focuses on developing scalable interventions and fostering partnerships aimed at improving the physical, mental and emotional health and well-being of children. Outcomes of focus includes fostering resilience in high-risk children, improving school readiness, reducing childhood obesity and increasing immunization rates.
Child Life Specialists
Child Life Specialists are experts at making a child’s hospital experience more comforting. These valuable professionals create distraction using various techniques including games, crafts, and imagery. They assist children in coping with the stress and fear of being in a healthcare setting such as the Breidegam Family Children’s ER, the inpatient pediatric unit, and the Children’s Cancer and Multipurpose Infusion Center. Thanks to your philanthropic support, the Child-Life Fund provides resources that help lift a child’s spirits during the healing and recovery process.
Pediatric cancer care
Cancer care for kids requires a team of highly specialized professionals using the most up to date treatments and approaches to care that is customized to each child. As part of the Children’s Oncology Group, a National Cancer Institute coalition of more than 230 children’s hospitals that provides patients with access to the latest therapies including clinical trials, we are well equipped to provide children with lifesaving cancer treatment. Skilled pediatric specialists, including clinicians, social workers and pharmacists, at Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital use their individual talents to combat a disease that should never inflict any child. Diseases are treated with infusions in an Infusion Center designed especially for kids, because kids aren’t just tiny adults.
