The observer gains an understanding of our operations, and we foster relationships with our referring partners. Continuing education credits have been approved by the Eastern Pennsylvania EMS Council.

The program provides knowledge of the air and ground medical transport including:

  • Aircraft and ambulance operational and safety procedures
  • In-transit environment and limitation
  • Mission readiness
  • On-scene and inter-facility transport of critically ill or injured patients
  • Patient perceptions during the transport
  • Pre-dispatch patient assessment and preparation

Requirements

Observers must be age 18 or older with a minimum three years’ experience in their field and local to our service area. They must weigh less than 200 pounds and not be pregnant.

Accepted occupations include:

  • ED or critical care RN
  • Emergency, 911, public safety answering point dispatcher
  • EMT or paramedic
  • Fire department line officer
  • Physician
  • Pre-hospital registered nurse (PHRN)

A member of our flight crew will contact you to schedule and give you all the information you’ll need. Dress code is “business casual” to include khaki or dark pants, weather-appropriate shirt and close-toed, sturdy shoes. When you arrive for your flight, you will be briefed on safety policies and procedures.

Participants are selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
