Summary

Provide financial information to management, staff, and external customers in compliance with internal and external requirements by managing, monitoring, and accessing the organizations financial and other systems and analyzing and verifying the inputs and outputs to those systems. Maintain financial records and systems in accordance with GAAP, Hospital policies, and the Healthcare Audit Guide. Interact with all levels and disciplines of LVHN staff & management, and other customers in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner. Demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and resourcefulness in performance of work responsibilities and assignments. Work requires a high degree of self-motivation to independently initiate and complete work at the highest level of complexity and importance in the Treasury and Accounting areas. Effectively uses project management skills to initiate, manage, and complete projects involving multi-disciplinary staff members. Must function cooperatively as part of the finance team and exhibit flexibility in response to changing demands and priorities. Work requires a high level of technical expertise acquired through experience to complete work assignments including budget preparation, financial analysis, investment and pension related compliance and disclosures. Provides financial and statistical information to management, staff, and external customers in compliance with internal and external requirements.

Job Duties

  • Prepares pension and investment allocations across the various network entities holding portfolios and reviews for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assists in the projection of financial information and completion of budget based on historical trends and other operating variables with areas of responsibilities.
  • Prepares journal entries and other source inputs into the general ledger in compliance with internal closing schedules, GAAP, and internal policies. Reconciles general ledger inputs and balances.
  • Assists in the preparation of the monthly financial statement and prepares investment reports as required.
  • Acts as a resource to other departments within the network for accounting-related issues and assists in ad hoc projects and assignments.
  • Performs analysis of pension, investment and financial information and provides relevant and actionable information to appropriate decision makers.
  • Develops and maintains systems of logs and records of financial activity to support accounting entries, information, and reports.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or business.
  • 5 years accounting work experience (preferably in healthcare) and
  • 3 years work experience as a staff accountant.
  • Ability to understand the interrelationships between the finance department systems and other department systems.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems that require the use of mathematical, statistical, and financial principles.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of flexibility and resourcefulness in the performance of work responsibilities and assignments.
  • Knowledge in the processing of accounting transactions, reports, and reconciliations.
  • Must function cooperatively as part of the finance team and exhibit flexibility in response to changing demands and priorities.
  • Advanced level MS Office skill including Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of Accounting software within an accounting function.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Treasury concepts.
  • Experience in treasury management system (TMS) - Preferred GTreasury system experience.

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
