We offer leading-edge diagnostics and care for aortic disease, ensuring you receive the best possible treatment. Our dedicated clinicians and researchers support a robust research program and participate in advanced clinical trials, providing you with both endovascular and surgical expertise.
What is aortic disease?
The aorta is the body’s largest artery. Its function is to deliver oxygenated blood from the heart to the rest of the body. It can be damaged due to smoking, genetic conditions and some infections.
Aortic stenosis, aortic aneurysm and aortic dissection are examples of life-threatening conditions resulting from damage to the aorta.
The Aortic Center offers:
- Advanced aortic diagnostic and therapeutic approaches
- Pioneering procedures and technologies
- Minimally invasive endovascular techniques
- A resource for patients and the community
Advanced diagnostics
Our cardiovascular specialists use the latest technology to diagnose aortic disease quickly and accurately. Lehigh Valley Heart and Vascular Institute is one of the state’s largest cardiovascular centers. Here, you can feel confident you’re receiving exceptional care from an experienced team of imaging specialists.
Minimally invasive endovascular techniques
Minimally invasive treatments, such as endovascular therapies, give clinicians precise tools to treat aortic diseases. The benefits to patients include reduced pain, faster recovery time, less blood loss and lower risk of infection.
Geographic and clinical access
As a leader in aortic care in our region, the Aortic Center allows us to focus on collaborative care among cardiac and vascular surgeons, radiologists and cardiologists. Our convenient location is accessible to both patients and clinicians, and we are building a strong foundation for future expansion.
The role of clinical trials
At Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) our research scientists work closely with our clinicians every day for a comprehensive, collaborative approach to research.
Clinical trials contribute to the ongoing advancement of aortic care in many ways. They provide data regarding how new treatments and medications will interact with people, they allow us to make better informed health care decisions and they help bring new treatments to market.
