Dental health is vital to an overall sense of well-being, and it can affect your physical health. For that reason, LVHN has made an extraordinary effort to extend dental services into our communities, especially for people who have limited resources.
Lehigh Valley Health Network is dedicated to quality, affordable dental care
We maintain two dental clinics where residents practicing in our General Practice Dentistry Residency program, along with dental hygienists and dental assistants, provide a wide range of reduced-cost services for children and adults. With one in Allentown and one in Bethlehem, the clinics are easily accessible.
We also offer children’s dental services to the residents of the Pocono region through the Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono Valerie M. Hodge Memorial Pediatric Dental Center in East Stroudsburg. Here, everyone – including those who have financial limitations – can access quality dental care for their children in a new, fully equipped facility.
Our clinics offer these services:
- Routine dental care, including cleaning
- Cavity fillings
- Tooth extractions
- Root canals
- Implants
- Fluoride treatments
- Education on proper brushing, flossing and healthy eating
Miles of Smiles
Another way we bring dental medicine to the community is through the Miles of Smiles van, part of Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital. A mobile unit, divided into two treatment areas and staffed by dentists and a hygienist, travels to contracted schools and provides care for children by appointment. Services include fillings, extractions, cleanings, fluoride treatments and sealants, as well as education about oral hygiene and health.
The program is continually expanding. LVHN expects to enlarge the geographic reach of the van after its initial excursions in fall 2024.
