What does the evaluation process involve?
Once your child has been referred to the neuropsychology program by a pediatrician or specialist, an office coordinator will reach out to schedule an initial screening.
After the neuropsychologist has reviewed your child's screening, she will meet with you and your child to learn more about their symptoms as well as their medical and academic history. Your child will then be scheduled for a neurocognitive evaluation.
During this evaluation, Dr. Moci will personalize her approach to determine your child’s strengths and weaknesses regarding social cognition, intellectual capabilities and behavioral function. After the evaluation is complete, she will meet with you and your child to discuss the findings, including diagnosis (if applicable) and recommendations for supportive care and treatment. This may include a referral to physical, occupational or behavioral therapy or recommendations for support in academic settings.
Within two years of their initial evaluation, your child will have a follow-up appointment with the neuropsychology team to check in on their progress.
