Physiatry (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation)

Physiatry, also called physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR), is a branch of medicine that deals with disorders related to function and movement, focusing on nerves, joints and muscles. Our physiatrists at Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute specialize in non-invasive, non-surgical treatments for back and neck pain and injuries.

  2. Physiatry (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation)

Physiatry/PMR is a great place to start if you're experiencing chronic back, neck or spine pain or have had a recent injury. A PMR physician will assess your condition, make a diagnosis, and recommend a treatment plan. PMR treatments can include physical manipulation, physical therapy, injections, and non-surgical procedures. If these treatments fail or your condition is more severe, a PMR physician may refer you to an orthopedic spine surgeon.
