- Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy
LVHN is now using the Ion robotic-assisted bronchoscopy platform at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest to perform minimally invasive biopsies anywhere in the lungs, including small nodules in the outer reaches of the lungs. The Ion system allows your doctor to consolidate the biopsy and staging of a potential lung cancer in a single procedure.
Collaborative approach
In a revolutionary step putting your experience at the forefront of care, LVHN has launched a collaborative interventional pulmonary program that enhances your experience while using the newest robotic-assisted bronchoscopy technology.
Our program is unique in the region and its focus is twofold: to get you biopsy results faster and to guide you every step of the way to help you feel informed and supported at an understandably challenging time.
Leading-edge technology
The Ion Bronchoscopy System isn’t like other lung biopsy tools. Its unique design allows your doctor to navigate tiny bends and curves of the lung airways. From deep in your lung to its far edges, your doctor can biopsy even exceedingly small nodules or tumors. The ability to navigate the lung and sample small nodules helps your doctor get the answers you need following your biopsy.
Being able to collect tissue from small nodules anywhere in the lungs may help your doctor detect lung cancer at an earlier stage. Biopsies with the Ion system require general anesthesia and are generally performed as an outpatient procedure.
