Hospital Staff Development Plan

A revised Hospital Staff Development Plan of Lehigh Valley Health Network (the “Plan”) has been approved by the Boards of the LVHN Hospitals. The Plan specifies LVHN’s process for determining the issuance of credentialing applications based on need and availability of resources and facilities to support requested membership and privileges. The new Plan eliminates the prior “slot allocation” system and designates each Department, Institute, Division, and Section as “open” or “closed” to new applicants as appropriate. The designation and determination of “closed” or “open” is based on a thorough and multi-factor comprehensive analysis, including but not limited, to quality of care, patient access to care, and charitable mission. 

The Plan requires clinicians wishing to apply to an open Department, Institute, Division, or Section first attest to the Hospitals’ expectations with regard to Medical Staff citizenship by completing a pre-application questionnaire form (contracted clinicians are exempt from this requirement as the expectations are set forth in their contractual arrangements). Clinicians may request a link to this form by calling the Medical Staff Office at 484-862-3900. This form must be successfully completed in order for a clinician to receive a Medical Staff application.
