We Remember Your Precious Child

Losing a baby, whether it’s during pregnancy, at birth or soon afterward, is devastating. If you have suffered this unimaginable tragedy, you are not alone and you don’t have to go through it alone. We’re here for you with the medical and emotional support you need. We hope this week is a reminder your baby is not forgotten.

Held annually from Oct. 9-15, Baby Loss Awareness Week is a special time dedicated to honoring the lives of babies lost during pregnancy, at birth or soon afterward. The week concludes with International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, where families gather and take part in the Global Wave of Light from home or at organized services.

“Our hope is to provide those who attend with a quiet space to reflect, remember and honor the baby or babies that brought them to this space.” - Meghan Hoffman, RN

Since 2005, Lehigh Valley Health Network has hosted a Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day ceremony on Oct. 15 as a way to memorialize the lives lost and offer support to grieving parents, families and supporters.

“This annual ceremony holds a special meaning for families, staff and all who attend,” says Meghan Hoffman, RN, Perinatal Bereavement Coordinator. “Our hope is to provide those who attend with a quiet space to reflect, remember and honor the baby or babies that brought them to this space. Whether the loss occurred recently or decades ago, was your own or of someone you hold dear, we remember each precious baby with you and hold them close to our hearts.”

This year, Lehigh Valley Health Network invites you to join us on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m. to remember the lives that were lost too soon. During this ceremony, you will:

  • Make and light a luminary in memory of your child as part of a worldwide candle-lighting ceremony.
  • Meet families who also have experienced this loss.
  • Learn more about available resources for those in need.
