Yesterday afternoon, our social media channels and inboxes were flooded with pictures from colleagues and community members alike. This sight was so breathtaking that time stopped for a moment as locals stood in awe of nature’s masterpiece in the sky: a full rainbow spanning the horizon over Lehigh Valley Hospital—Cedar Crest.
In these moments, it’s hard not to think of the several symbolic messages of a rainbow. Some may view a rainbow as a sign of good luck, equality or religious symbolism.
Another example is that a rainbow consists of seven different colors. Each of these colors is vibrant and beautiful, and each one is different than the next. This conveys a beautiful message of inclusiveness and cohesion. It inspires thoughts of how beautiful diversity can be and how important community inclusion is in this difficult time, and always.
Most importantly, rainbows are often seen after a storm when the sun breaks through the clouds. This illustrates a very powerful and important message. Good and beautiful things often follow the darkest storms. Rainbows are visual motivation to continue to endure through difficult times and a promise that there is light and hope on the other side.
We will get through this, together. Stay home, stay strong and don’t forget to look for these beacons of hope in your day to day.
