Beloved Model Train Makes Its Arrival From Jefferson Health to the Children’s ER

All aboard! A beloved model train that once called the pediatric unit at Jefferson Abington Hospital home headed northbound to its new and final destination – Breidegam Family Children's ER at Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital.

On Monday, July 28, Jefferson Health and Lehigh Valley Health Network colleagues came together to celebrate the train’s arrival to the play area in Breidegam Family Children’s ER where – thanks to the generosity of donor, Elaine Lindy, and relocation coordination by Lon Palitz – the train will be able to keep chugging along, spreading joy to pediatric patients and their families for years to come.

“Having this train in our Children’s ER will bring so much joy to our patients and families – and our colleagues. We truly can’t thank Elaine enough for her generosity,” says Anne Baum, President, Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital.

“When we heard we would be making changes to our pediatric unit at Abington, the first thing we said was, ‘What about the train?’” says Jill Kyle, Senior Vice President, Regional Advancement, Jefferson Health, who has been working at Abington for 25 years. “We are beyond grateful Elaine and Lon offered to support the train’s move to Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital. With 30,000 visits to the Children’s ER each year, this train will get so much visibility and we’re so happy we were able to find such a great home for it. It also has been nice to partner with our new partners at Lehigh Valley Health Network to make this train move happen.”
