Celebrate World Heart Day – Sept. 29 – to a Different Beat

World Heart Day

Your heart beats 100,000 times a day, keeping you alive and doing what you love. Why not celebrate and raise awareness for heart health as a tribute to that four-chambered miracle in your chest?

Here are two great ideas.

World Heart Day Challenge

The World Heart Federation (WHF) is sponsoring the World Heart Day Challenge. It costs nothing to participate. All you need is some creative mapping for your biking, walking or running route. The idea is to complete your route in the shape of a heart, then post your heart path on the challenge web page by Sept. 29. This is a global effort, so your heart challenge route could be posted along with someone from the other side of the world. It’s enough to get your heart racing, right?

Lehigh Valley & Berks Heart Walk

The annual Lehigh Valley & Berks Heart Walk is Sunday, Sept. 25 at Grange Park, 360 Grange Road, Allentown, PA 18106. LVHN has more than a dozen teams entered in the walk. There’s no cost to register. The idea is to make a personal donation and raise money for things such as heart health research, CPR instruction, and programs.  You can join one of the existing LVHN teams, make up your own team, or simply walk without joining a team. The American Heart Association says every donation helps. You can even fundraise through Facebook. Visit the heart walk page for more information.
