Healthy You - Every Day

Celebrating Our Residents and Fellows

For Thank a Resident Day, we recognize and appreciate the dedication, hard work and sacrifices of our medical residents and fellows

At Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), our residents and fellows are more than just learners – they are compassionate caregivers, diligent researchers and future leaders in medicine. On Feb. 28 we celebrate Thank a Resident Day, an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication, perseverance and invaluable contributions of our medical residents.

The impact of our residents and fellows

LVHN is proud to sponsor 16 Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited residency programs with 312 residents, along with 21 fellowship programs that include 74 ACGME-accredited fellows and seven non-accredited fellowship positions with five filled spots. These individuals commit years of their lives to rigorous training, balancing clinical care, education and personal growth to become highly-skilled physicians.

“LVHN is dedicated to both the learning process and wellness of each resident physician.” - Amanda Jacubowsky, DO

In the past year alone, LVHN graduated 130 residents and fellows, many of whom have continued their journey with us. Twelve residents transitioned into our fellowship programs and 25 residents and fellows (26 percent of graduates) chose to join our medical staff – exceeding our goal of 20 percent. Their decision to continue their careers at LVHN speaks to the strong educational foundation, supportive environment and professional opportunities our health network provides.

“LVHN is dedicated to both the learning process and wellness of each resident physician,” says Amanda Jacubowsky, DO, Internal Medicine Resident and President of the Lehigh Valley Resident Association. “With structured teaching services, didactics and research opportunities, residents are provided with the highest level of dedicated learning opportunities. Additionally, LVHN colleagues are like a family that acts to guide and support everyone in their medical journey.”

How you can show your appreciation

There are many ways to express gratitude to our residents on Thank a Resident Day:

  • Say “Thank You.” A simple word of appreciation can make a big difference.
  • Write a note. A handwritten or digital message acknowledging their hard work is a thoughtful gesture.
  • Share on social media. Use #ThankAResidentDay to publicly recognize their commitment and dedication.

A future of excellence

Our residents and fellows embody the mission of LVHN, providing compassionate, high-quality care to our community while continuously advancing in medical knowledge and practice. Their efforts not only benefit our patients today but also shape the future of health care. Every day, they make an impact.

“A pediatric patient of mine in the emergency department was scheduled for surgery in the morning, and her mother had to go home to accompany her other kids,” says Sayed Arian, DO, Family Medicine Resident and Treasurer of the Lehigh Valley Resident Association. “After my thorough explanation of her daughter’s condition and reassurance, the mother said she trusted me with her child. Since I’m a parent, this meant a lot to me.”

Join us on Feb. 28 as we extend our gratitude to the residents and fellows who work tirelessly to provide exceptional care. They are the future of medicine, and their dedication deserves to be celebrated.

Thank you to all our residents and fellows for your unwavering commitment to healing, learning and leading!
