First-Ever Pocono Golf Classic Raises More than $70K for Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center, Part of Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute

More than 70 golfers tee up to support comprehensive cancer care at LVH–Pocono

On Monday, Sept. 30, at Great Bear Golf Club, 72 golfers along with 16 sponsors, including PATHS, TeamHealth and Valley Preferred, raised more than $70,000 for Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono’s Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center, part of Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute, during the first-ever Pocono Golf Classic.

This fundraiser supports comprehensive cancer care and clinical trials for the Pocono region. At the evening reception, Cornelio Catena, President, Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono, said, “We are absolutely thrilled with today’s turnout, which has exceeded all expectations.” He thanked everyone for their generosity and recognized the tournament’s Title Sponsors, Joe and Maureen Topper.

Suresh Nair, MD, Physician in Chief, Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute, and Regional Chief, Lehigh Valley, Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, also thanked guests, sharing how their support would directly benefit local cancer patients.
