Thanks to Bennett Toyota in Allentown, Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) has a few new tools when it comes to distributing COVID-19 vaccines to people throughout the region. Bennett Toyota donated three new vehicles to LVHN, which will be used as part of LVHN’s COVID-19 mobile vaccination unit.
LVHN began the COVID-19 mobile vaccination unit in January 2021 as a way to reach large concentrations of people eligible for the vaccine, but unable to get to hospitals or drive-thru clinics. Over 2,000 people have been vaccinated through the program, mostly at skilled nursing facilities and personal care homes that were not served by commercial pharmacies.
“Thanks to Bennett Toyota, we will be able to get to more people who need the vaccine, specifically our neighbors who were disproportionately affected by the pandemic. We are grateful for their generosity and look forward to doing our part to help the community,” says Brian A. Nester, DO, MBA, LVHN President and CEO.
The vehicles will be used to transport vaccines, IT infrastructure such as computers and the medical team. The COVID-19 mobile vaccination unit serves all areas of our region and will be going to senior high-rises, community centers and other facilities to reach community members with limited transportation and other access barriers.
