More than 800 active volunteers serve at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) locations throughout the region, and each of these remarkable people plays a key role in providing crucial services to our patients, colleagues and community.
Volunteers offer support in our pharmacies, assist colleagues with errands, greet patients and guests, work in our gift shops and brighten the days of lonely patients by taking the time to say “hello.”
Some of these men and women have served as LVHN volunteers for more than 40 years and continue to be incredible community partners. All of our volunteers are an essential part of our family and will always have a special place at LVHN.
April 17-23 is National Volunteer Week, so we’re saying an extra “thank you” to those who give of themselves to our colleagues, patients and community.
Lend a Hand at LVHN by Becoming a Volunteer
Celebrate National Volunteer Week by volunteering your time at LVHN
Did you know?
Before the onset of the pandemic, LVHN had more than 1,300 volunteers, but that number was cut nearly in half when volunteer services were paused at the peak of COVID-19. Now, as restrictions have eased, we are once again in need of volunteers to lend a hand at all of our hospitals and across LVHN.
Our community of volunteers is diverse, so we’re looking for people of all ages to lend a helping hand in a variety of areas, including:
- Assisting in surgical waiting areas
- Supporting clinical staff by restocking supplies, running errands, rounding on patients and more
- Playing stringed instruments for patients and colleagues
- Participating with colleague engagement tasks, like events or pick me ups
- Pet therapy
If you or somebody you know wants to volunteer at LVHN, visit LVHN.org/volunteer. Volunteers must complete the application and participate in a one-hour orientation.
