“My colleagues in maternity care are dedicated, hardworking and compassionate,” says Kristin Friel, MD, Vice Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. “This recognition from Newsweek is a reflection of the quality of care our doctors, nurses and hospital staff offer to our new mothers and infants.”
Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital is crucial to LVH–Cedar Crest’s award-winning maternity care. It offers infants, new mothers and their families invaluable resources like education, access to state-of-the-art facilities and the only Level IV NICU in the region.
“The quality of care we offer to mothers and babies is among the best in the country, and our outstanding team of health care professionals deserves to be recognized for their achievements,” says Anne Baum, President, Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital. “This award is a huge honor, and I’m proud of our maternity care team for always going above and beyond for our patients.”
Newsweek partnered with research firm Statista to decide which maternity care facilities provided the highest level of care. A complex and comprehensive approach was used to determine the results. The methodology includes:
- Nationwide online survey: Hospital managers and health care professionals with knowledge about maternity processes (e.g., midwives, neonatal and OB-GYNs) were asked to recommend leading maternity hospitals in the U.S.
- Medical key performance indicators (KPI) on hospitals with a focus on indicators relevant to maternity care
- Results from patient surveys
More than 10,000 health care professionals participated in the online survey. Only the nation’s top 6% maternity care hospitals were recognized by Newsweek.
