LVH–Pocono Colleagues Give Back for Thanksgiving

Partnering with the Salvation Army for the 13th Annual Giving Thanks Project

For the 13th year in a row, the Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Pocono Giving Thanks Project is helping to feed families in need in Monroe County for Thanksgiving. LVH–Pocono came together in the spirit of giving to once again share its blessings with the East Stroudsburg Salvation Army. This year, the generosity of LVH–Pocono colleagues led to the donation of 105 turkeys, as well as food to fill 109 boxes, with each box containing enough supplies to feed a family of five. Nearly 1,800 meals have been donated by LVH–Pocono colleagues since this initiative began.

“The need in our community is immense, and it is heartwarming that our colleagues are so willing to do their part by giving back each year.” - Sandy Adams

“This has become a wonderful Thanksgiving tradition at LVH–Pocono, and colleagues really look forward to assembling the boxes,” says Sandy Adams, Executive Assistant, who recently took over the role of organizing the Giving Thanks Project. “The need in our community is immense, and it is heartwarming that our colleagues are so willing to do their part by giving back each year.”

Once the boxes are compiled, the LVH–Pocono security team loads them into a trailer and delivers them to the Salvation Army to unload. This year, they recruited the East Stroudsburg University football team to help. “Football and Thanksgiving go hand in hand, so it made sense to get them involved,” says Greg Munch, Security Supervisor at LVH–Pocono. “They are a great group of kids, and they jumped at the chance to help. It really shows how this community is willing to come together to support each other.”
