Colleagues from Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Schuylkill joined with a local church group, food bank and area businesses to help the people of western Schuylkill County. Registered dietitians Keandra Correll, RDN, and Sarah Monger, RD, clinical dietitians with Sodexo at LVH–Schuylkill and natives of western Schuylkill County, participated in a recent community drive-thru food drive event. It was set up for residents in the 17981 ZIP code, which comprises Tremont, Donaldson, Jolliet and Reilly Township.
“We were very excited to be a part of this and hope to continue engaging with the community in a safe manner in the future,” Monger says. “I know there were many people – both children and adults – who were excited to receive the goodie bags.”
Organized through a grant obtained by St. Peter’s Church of Christ in Tremont, participating businesses and organizations included Blessings of Hope Food Bank of Leola, Guers Dairy, Twin Valley Farmers Exchange, Sodexo and LVH–Schuylkill.
Participants received milk, yogurt, fruit and vegetables. Dietitians also provided recipes, hand sanitizer and other materials – along with an LVH–Schuylkill smile.
