There’s nothing more fulfilling than completing a race, unless of course that race concludes with a delicious pie! That was the scene at Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Hecktown Oaks, where 108 participants came dressed for a chilly morning and ready to complete the 4-mile or 1.3-mile course on Saturday, Nov. 4, and then received a pumpkin pie courtesy of Wegmans at the finish line. Other lead sponsors for the event were Adams Outdoor, PenTeleData and Schlouch Incorporated.
LVHN Holds Second Annual Run 4 Pies Event at LVH–Hecktown Oaks
More than 100 ran and walked at annual fundraiser
For the second year in a row, proceeds from the run support community health and wellness initiatives, patient assistance and general needs at LVH–Hecktown Oaks in Lower Nazareth Township. A highlight of the event included the first-ever team of runners, The Mighty Oaks, led by Joe Pinto, President, LVH–Hecktown Oaks, and his wife, Jennifer.
Overall top finisher Margaret Vido of Lafayette Hill made the 4-mile race look as easy as pie with a time of 23:30:00. Volkmar Dierolf of Allentown was the top male finisher, crossing the line at 27:14:57. Vido, Dierolf and the winners of each age group all received gift cards donated by the Keystone Running Store.
No matter how you slice it, everyone had a great time helping to raise awareness of hospital initiatives that are vital to the LVH–Hecktown Oaks community.
