“Excellent care embodies exceptional clinical care and compassionate care,” says Matthew McCambridge, MD, Senior Vice President and Chief Quality, Patient Safety and Acute Care Continuum Officer, Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN). “This recognition from The Leapfrog Group shows all colleagues at LVH–Pocono are dedicated to the health and well-being of our community and will take all necessary measures to ensure patients receive the high-quality, safe and compassionate care they expect and deserve.”
Leapfrog is an independent nonprofit organization whose goal is for American health care to take leaps forward for safety. For more than a decade, Leapfrog has rated general hospitals on more than 30 performance measures and then assigned an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade. The performance measures were developed under the guidance of a national expert-panel and the grades are assigned twice a year, in the spring and fall.
“I applaud the hospital leadership and workforce for their strong commitment to safety and transparency,” says Leah Binder, President and CEO, The Leapfrog Group. “An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a sign that hospitals are continuously evaluating their performance so that they can best protect patients. Your hospital team should be extremely proud of their dedication and achievement.”
