Lehigh Valley, Pa. (Jan. 13, 2021) – Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is providing this vaccine update following changes in federal vaccine eligibility guidelines and after receiving countless inquiries from community members and organizations throughout the region. LVHN enthusiastically welcomes the potential to vaccinate more community members sooner than initially expected.
We will monitor federal and state vaccine guidelines and will work hard to use vaccine as quickly as possible. On Tuesday alone, LVHN vaccinated more than 3,200 people and is ready to vaccinate even more if vaccine supply permits.
The fastest way for community members to receive the COVID-19 vaccine is to either enroll in or update their MyLVHN account. Once you are registered, we will send you a message via MyLVHN when you are eligible to schedule your vaccination. Scheduling your vaccination will take very little time when you use MyLVHN.
LVHN has extensive mass immunization experience, hosting drive-through flu shot clinics for nearly two decades, where we have vaccinated as many as 8,000 people in one day. We will apply that experience to large-scale drive-through COVID-19 vaccine events throughout the region, to supplement our existing vaccination locations. As we continue our preparation for expanding LVHN’s vaccination program, the tents for COVID-19 mass immunization are now in place at Dorney Park in Lehigh County, with operations to start on appropriate groups as soon as we have sufficient vaccine and the go-ahead from the State. Other sites in Northampton and Monroe Counties will soon be established in coordination with local Health Bureaus and authorities. An appointment will be needed to receive the vaccine. We expect to vaccinate at least 5,000 people per day when we have adequate vaccine supply.
LVHN pledges to use as much vaccine as is humanly possible each week based on the supply we receive and any potential weather interruptions. Please activate and/or double check your MyLVHN account so that when it is your turn, you can schedule quickly and easily from a computer or mobile device.

- The LVHN plan for administering COVID-19 vaccines is determined by the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s phased approach to vaccination. Vaccine supply is limited in the early stage of distribution.
- MyLVHN is your path to vaccination. The first step you can take is to enroll in MyLVHN if you don’t already have an account. Everyone with a MyLVHN account will be preregistered for a COVID-19 vaccine. MyLVHN is a free, secure, easy-to-use patient portal that connects you with your personal health information. You do not need to be a current patient of LVHN, Lehigh Valley Physician Group (LVPG) or Coordinated Health to open a MyLVHN account. Learn more at LVHN.org/MyLVHN. If you already have an account, make sure all your information is up to date (log in and click "Menu," "Account Settings," and then edit your personal information). You’ll receive a notification when it's your turn to get vaccinated and you are able to schedule your appointment through MyLVHN.
- COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. We are administering the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. While you will not be able to choose which vaccine you will receive, both have been proven safe and effective. After providing two months of safety from ongoing Phase 3 trials, Pfizer and Moderna were granted Emergency Use Authorization by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Data show that Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine is 95 percent effective in preventing COVID-19 while Moderna’s vaccine has shown to be 94.5 percent effective.
- Your vaccine will be FREE. LVHN will offer free COVID-19 vaccinations to the community when supply becomes available.
