Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) has long invested in making health care more accessible for all patients throughout the region. One of the ways it does that is through a network of ExpressCARE clinics strategically located where people can access care without an appointment. The newest ExpressCARE opened on June 2 at 101 N. Sixth St. in Allentown, inside Valley Health Partners Community Health Center.
The alignment of LVHN and Valley Health Partners at this location puts a range of services within reach of Allentown’s urban community. Now, primary care and pediatric care will be available for those without a medical home, while also connecting patients with vision and pediatric dental services in one building.
“This location centralizes quality health care for a large part of Allentown’s center-city population, many of whom do not have easy access to our suburban locations,” says Mark Prezioso, PA-C, LVHN’s Associate Chief Medical Executive, Primary Care Service Line, Division of ExpressCARE. “We are proud to be able to provide this convenience so that we can help improve the health and lives of more people in our community.”
This latest addition brings the number of LVHN’s ExpressCARE centers to 21, with two more dedicated just to children. ExpressCARE Video Visits are also available every day with an internet connection and a smart device.
“With patient volumes exceeding 300,000 annually, we want to ensure seamless and high-quality care across all communities,” Prezioso says. He notes that ExpressCARE clinics feature close collaboration with medical teams and staff to ensure they are efficient and comfortable for patients. “Over the last few years, we have also integrated the telemedicine option so that we can provide even more access to care,” he says.
As with all LVHN ExpressCAREs, the new location in Allentown will provide walk-in, no-appointment care for minor illnesses and injuries. This includes treatment for:
- Minor cuts
- Sprains and strains
- Allergies, cough and colds
- Fever, flu or flu shot
- Nausea
- Sinus pain
Other conditions treated at the ExpressCARE might include acute back pain, bronchitis, headaches, rashes and eye irritations. For serious conditions, LVHN advises patients to visit their nearest emergency department.
LVHN ExpressCARE–Sixth Street offers extended hours during evenings, weekends and holidays to ensure care is available when patients need it.
