The pediatric hematology-oncology program at Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital is a proud part of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), the largest international consortium of pediatric cancer hospitals and clinicians devoted to childhood and adolescent cancer research. Through this membership of more than 10,000 experts in childhood cancer across North America, Australia, New Zealand and Europe, Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital offers clinical trials and cancer care using world-class research and protocols.
“We have a fair amount of open trials currently through COG, including two for leukemia, a new brain tumor trial, relapse trials and an osteosarcoma trial coming next year,” says Jacob Troutman, DO, a pediatric hematologist oncologist with Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital. “Our membership with COG allows us to gather information and learn by treating as many children as we can in clinical trials. With this, we are able to learn how to best find new treatments and improve what we currently know. It has revolutionized how we are treating and curing pediatric cancer.”
