If you happen to use an online banking app, you’re familiar with having a verification code sent to you before you can log in to your account. That verification step helps ensure only the person who owns the bank account accesses that sensitive information. That same level of security is now available on MyLVHN, Lehigh Valley Health Network’s patient portal, to help provide additional protection for your health information.
Starting Aug. 7 when you log in to your MyLVHN account, you will be prompted with a screen that asks you to verify your identity. To continue to log in, you will need to choose whether you want a numeric code sent to your mobile phone as a text message or if you would prefer to have the code sent to your email.
Once you receive the code, type it in to the MyLVHN login screen and press “Verify.” Then you will be logged in to your MyLVHN account.
Two-step verification on MyLVHN will be set as a default, meaning that you will be prompted to input the verification code when you log in to your MyLVHN account starting Aug. 7. On either MyLVHN.org or the MyLVHN app, you will have an option after the first verified log in to skip that step for 90 days, otherwise you will be prompted to do two-step verification each time.
While we encourage you to use this identity verification feature to protect your health information, you do have the option of turning it off.
