Fitness videos for you
New videos are posted Monday through Friday on the LVHN Fitness Facebook and Instagram pages. There is a different workout to look forward to each day. All exercises can be modified to suit your fitness level.
You can watch the latest one or check out the library of videos available on Facebook and Instagram. There are a variety of workouts to choose from. Here are a few classes you can expect to see:
- AMRAP (As Many Reps As Possible)
- Set your timer, get ready and go. An AMRAP workout challenges you to complete as many reps of an exercise as you can in a certain amount of time.
- HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training)
- If you’re looking for a class that gets your heart rate pumping and muscles fired up, HIIT is for you. This type of workout combines short bursts of high-intensity exercises with brief periods of rest.
- Yoga
- For a more low-impact workout, try a yoga class. Yoga combines strength exercises with deep breathing. This practice is a full mind, body and spirit experience.
- Core Fusion
- Your core is the foundation for a strong body. Since many abdominal exercises do not require equipment, now is a great time to strengthen those muscles.
- Get Up and Go
- This class is beneficial for those who may have a movement disorder. The goal is to improve balance, coordination and stability by practicing reciprocal patterns with the body.
Tips for staying motivated
“Remember, taking care of your mind is just as important as your body. Exercise benefits both. It helps you to refocus your energy on something positive that will ultimately improve your physical health and well-being,” Weida says. Here are a few helpful ways to make exercise a routine part of your life:
- Move more than you sit
- Keep moving throughout the day. “You don’t have to think of exercise as always involving weights, bands or jump ropes. It could be going for a walk, taking the stairs or even parking in the farthest spot when you go grocery shopping,” Weida says. Be sure to break up your day with some stretching and a walk, wherever it may be – to run an essential errand or to venture outdoors with your kids or pet.
- Schedule your workout
- Whether it’s a quick jog in the morning, pushups at noon or cardio after 5 p.m., plan your exercise time. Put it in your phone or write it down in your planner. If you schedule it ahead of time, it’s more likely that you will follow through with your workout. Intentional planning leads to discipline and consistency.
- Team up with an accountability partner
- Find someone who has similar fitness goals. Check in regularly with a phone/video call or text message to motivate each other. Having an accountability partner will help you remain committed to your goals. “Many people are out of their routine right now. It’s important to keep exercise as a constant in your life so it makes the transition back to normal easier,” Weida says. A fitness buddy during this time will help you stay on track.
