Simon Gringut, MD, a Yale-trained cardiac electrophysiologist at LVPG Cardiology–East Stroudsburg, recently became the first physician to offer the Watchman device in the Pocono area. This device, implanted in a one-time procedure, reduces stroke risk without the need for lifelong anticoagulation.
“It’s a very safe procedure with a complication rate of less than 0.5 percent and a success rate of about 98 percent,” Dr. Gringut says.
