Born and raised in a big Italian family in Syracuse, N.Y., I earned my bachelor’s degree from Villanova University and moved to Portland, Ore., to work for the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. Then, I returned to Philly for graduate school at Drexel University, headed to New Mexico for medical school at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine and finally landed at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) for the Family Medicine Residency. My trajectory to today has entailed a lot of social justice work, attempts to understand doctors’ roles in societal change, moving to many different parts of the country and ultimately achieving my goal of working as an outpatient family medicine doctor while maintaining opportunities to teach residents at LVHN. I truly believe my role as an outpatient family physician is to touch people’s lives in a multitude of ways so that we can partner with patients to move toward improved whole-human wellness. I am passionate about outpatient medicine, metabolic syndrome, lifestyle medicine, addiction medication and community medicine. I am involved in teaching community oriented primary care curriculum, other curriculum development, resident advising and continuing qualitative research with local community partnerships in health equity. Things you can always get me talking about are professional and collegiate sports, hiking national parks, riding my bicycle and skiing.
