Where originally from? Chicago, IL

Undergrad? Grinnell College, IA

Medical School? RUSH University, IL

Career Interests? I have grown up alongside a sibling with disability and so I am very interested in exploring the wide range of disabilities that exist among our patients in the OBGYN world (incontinence, chronic pelvic pain, morbidity associated with poor quality healthcare). Similarly, I want to educate myself to provide better obstetrical/gynecological care to females living with mental and physical impairments. Lastly, having grown up in a developing country I have a desire to share my time and knowledge as a doctor on a global level.

Outside interests? Hiking, food tours, exploring new restaurants, trying new recipes

Involvement in residency? As a new intern, I am not yet involved in any formal committees but eager to participate in medical student education, inclusiveness, diversity, etc.

What do you like most about Lehigh Valley? I have never lived on the East coast before starting residency so this is all very new for me! But so far, I have enjoyed taking advantage tons of recreational activities around the valley—from gorgeous state parks for hiking and camping to exploring the Appalachian trail heads near us.

What do you like most about the residency program? I love that our program is so community based and that we have the privilege of serving a diverse patient population across our 3 different training sites. Our attending physicians have also trained at a variety of residencies/fellowships which gives our program a wholesome sense.

Fun Fact: I was born in Hyderabad, Pakistan and moved to Chicago 1 month prior to my 9th birthday. I spoke no English and I had to repeat the first grade to complete ESL. The very first book I read in English is called “The Eleventh Hour” by Graeme Base.
